San Francisco Symphony musicians explore their connections to folk music past and present, featuring compositions based on folk melodies from Kazakhstan and Eastern Europe. Violinist Raushan Akhmedyarova talks about her father's legacy as a dombra player and composer, and two compositions inspired by his legacy will be presented: "Sketches from Kazakhstan" for string quartet by Sam Post and “Dombra Songs and Dances for Solo Violin” by Gloria Justen.
